On Women Travel the World Blog I recently wrote about Lisa Condie who went to Italy on holiday in 2012, and on her last day there decided she wanted to live in Florence. She has set up a small tour company dedicated to showing women the wonders of Tuscany. More
Lyn and Chris are two New Zealand women who also fell in love with Italy, and now spend their time between Puglia in the South of Italy and Akaroa Harbour near Christchurch in New Zealand.
Both women are chefs and share their love of Italy, it’s food and way of life for 8 weeks a year with guests who stay a week in either Puglia or Sardinia. Tuscany used to also be on their list, but it is the south of Italy that has captured them, and their guests agree.
They have bought a gorgeous place in Puglia, and this year after their guests left, they had the chance to fully immerse themselves in the the pugliese summer way of life.
A delightful mixture of special times sharing meals with friends, wandering the many small towns in the balmy evenings which always have open-air concerts and festivals, going to the beach and harvesting produce from our garden to preserve for our tours next season.
After northern summer they return to New Zealand, and to The Gables, their beautiful historic house on the Akaroa Harbour near Christchurch.
Here they welcome guests to stay, offer catering and run cooking demonstrations. This year they are offering a Sicilian Sunday Lunch on several Sundays where you will see dishes made and then enjoy a long table lunch. Cooking lessons this year include Pizza and Pasta making classes. Email them if you are interested in the dates of the classes.
Next year’s week long trips in Puglia and Sardinia are nearly booked out already – though there are a few openings.
