Silk Road Adventures are based in Greymouth in the South Island of New Zealand, and for years they have been leading tours in every corner of the Silk Road. Recently they have branched out and are supporting self-drive touring arrangements.
At one point we had 55 travellers motoring their way accross various parts of Asia on a variety of enterprises in vehicles that were either vintage, classic or hot off the showroom floor. Of course there were breakdowns and occassional crisis but all 55 travellers and their chariots made it to their various finish lines in one piece.
They recently asssisted three kiwi motorcyclists to go through Myanmar – read the story of the journey here
However they comment: “Riders and self drive enthusiasts should take a deep breath because this may yet turn out to have been a ‘one off ‘. The permission process was lengthy, tourturous, uncertain and expensive. In the meantime we are happy to have the credit on our CV.”
