Blenheim – a great biking town

Blenheim bike trails - by the river

We are staying in a cabin at the Top 10 Holiday Park on the edge of Blenheim, central, clean and friendly.

This is definitely a great biking town

  • Blenheim bike trails - by the riverWe have brought our bikes along, but we could have hired them here or several of the bike shops in town.
  • We quickly discover the trails beside the river which go for miles on both sides, for some of the time alongside a small local railway.
  • Then there are the paths through the vineyards  – you can discover the whole of the Marlborough’s Wairau Plains by bike
  • If you are more adventurous you can head into the Wither Hills Farm Park for walking and mountain biking.

Blenheim is no sleepy town – it has a great town centre and a spectacular Convention Centre (we are here at the BirdsNZ Conference).

Here are some non biking spots we also enjoyed:

  • Blenheim Railway Station one of George Troups designs
    Blenheim Railway Station

    The Poppy Thai restaurant

  • The Blenheim Railway Station is beautifully restored design by our friend’s grandfather George Troup, and now called the Wine Station where you can drink from 80 premium local wines.
  • Across the road is another notable building which I discover is the I-Site which is where to head for maps and information.
  • The Vines Village – a hub for artisans and food.  There is a wine cellar, cafe, shops, places for the kids to play. Well worth a stop.  193 Rapaura Road Blenheim
